SAN DIEGO – The San Diego City Attorney's Office filed suit against the law firm Vinson & Elkins in San Diego Superior Court Thursday morning.
The lawsuit accuses the law firm of failing “to protect the city's interests.” The city is seeking $10 million in damages.
“On behalf of the taxpayers and the City Council, the City is asking for a refund for incompetent work performed,” City Attorney Michael Aguirre said in a prepared statement. “We will no longer tolerate exploitation by outside consultants who take advantage of a city when it's most vulnerable. We will recover this money and hold these people accountable.”
Aguirre's office said the City Council approved the legal action in closed session.
