NORTH COUNTY COURTS: Three teens, including two juveniles, were charged yesterday in Vista Superior Court in the killing of a 15-year-old boy in Escondido over the weekend in what prosecutors say was a gang-related shooting.

Prosecutors allege that Nestor Garcia, 17, fired a .22-caliber revolver and killed Eduardo Aranda early Saturday. Garcia, who is being tried as an adult, faces 50 years to life in prison if convicted, said prosecutor Geoff Allard.

Eliud Eduardo Rangel, 16, and Osiel Junior Reyes, 18, were also charged with murder yesterday. They both face 25 years to life in prison, the prosecutor said. Rangel is being tried as an adult.

The three pleaded not guilty.

The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Witnesses told police a red compact car drove near a group of juveniles on Spruce Street near Seventh Avenue. Several shots were fired from the car, and a bullet hit Aranda in the torso.

Police have said they are looking for a fourth suspect, Edwin Rangel, 18, of Escondido. –M.R.
