Police investigate report of stabbing

UNION-TRIBUNE BREAKING NEWS TEAM

12:55 p.m. July 2, 2008

OCEANSIDE – Police have opened an investigation into a Tuesday night stabbing, but suspect the victim is giving them a false account of what happened.

When officers first talked to the unidentified victim at a local hospital, he told officers he had been out walking his dog on Calle Montecito when he was approached by two Latino males who stabbed him without provocation, said police Sgt. Kelan Poorman.

Officers who went to that spot found no evidence of a crime. They did, however, find blood inside the victim's apartment, Poorman said.

Detectives plan to re-interview both the victim, whose wounds are not life-threatening, and his girlfriend, who brought him to the hospital, the sergeant said.
