Survival mode seems Aztecs' only option
“The football world and the world in general isn't going to wait while you sit around feeling sorry for yourself, and the next opponent certainly won't either,” coach Chuck Long said yesterday in the wake of the Aztecs' 35-10 loss to Air Force on Saturday. “You've got to be able to put it behind you and move on.”

Aztecs get big win, shut out Stanford: The San Diego State men's soccer team, playing without starting midfielders Daniel Steres, a freshman, and Jamel Wallace (Oceanside High), a redshirt junior – both of whom had red cards against UCLA last Sunday – pulled out a 1-0 win over Pac-10 rival Stanford last night in Palo Alto.
Aztecs' Spain moving forward: Spain, in his first interview in eight months, said yesterday that he was on the verge of leaving school out of fear that his career was over when he was suspended for violations of team policy in February. It was the second suspension for Spain, who was held out of the lineup for three weeks in 2006 for what the university termed “conduct detrimental to the team.” What Spain didn't say – and what coach Steve Fisher said on his behalf – was that SDSU will not be providing specifics on what prompted either suspension.
