Dolphins assistant Jim Reid home following surgery

ASSOCIATED PRESS

DAVIE, Fla. – Miami Dolphins assistant coach Jim Reid is home recovering from surgery and an undisclosed illness.

Reid, who last worked Sept. 24, left the hospital about a week ago, coach Tony Sparano said Thursday.

“We've just got our fingers crossed every day,” Sparano said. “He's doing good. He's doing much better.”

Sparano said he talks by phone several times a week with Reid, who is Miami's outside linebackers coach.

“It's hard to keep him still. He's got a lot of energy,” Sparano said. “He's busy at work at home doing his stuff. It keeps him involved.”

Defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni has been filling in for Reid.
