June 4, 2009

Danielle Littleton

Track

Vista

The junior won San Diego Section titles in the 100-meter intermediate hurdles (14.42 seconds) and the 300 low hurdles (44.30). Both marks are best in the section this spring and qualified Littleton for the State Track and Field Championships this week.

Spencer DiDio

Swimming

Carlsbad

The senior guided the Lancers to their seventh straight Division I championship. DiDio set a section record in the 100-yard butterfly (48.92) and won the 200 individual medley. He was also part of Carlsbad's record-setting 200 medley and 400 free relay teams.

Laura Winter

Softball

Rancho Bernardo

The junior was dominant in helping RB navigate the difficult Division I playoff bracket. In the championship game, Winter tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out 14, and hit a solo home run for a 1-0 victory over El Camino.

Bobby Braun

Lacrosse

Coronado

The senior attacker contributed two goals and three assists in a 9-4 win over La Costa Canyon that gave the Islanders their first lacrosse title. In a semifinal win over Rancho Bernardo, Braun had three goals and an assist.

Jessica Schmitt

Swimming

Torrey Pines

For the third time in four years, Schmitt broke the section record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.16. After taking last year off to focus on the Olympic Trials, the senior also won the 100 breast and helped the Falcons set a record in the 200 medley relay.

Dillon Haupt

Baseball

Mira Mesa

The senior catcher was an offensive catalyst for the Marauders, hitting .400 with three home runs during May. His efforts helped Mira Mesa win the Eastern League title. The 6-foot-5 Haupt finished among the section leaders in several offensive categories.
