Empty El Cajon apartment set on fire

UNION-TRIBUNE

December 5, 2005

EL CAJON – An 18-year-old man was arrested last night in connection with a fire that authorities say was deliberately set in an empty apartment, causing heavy damage to the building, officials said.

The fire broke out shortly after 7 p.m. on Lexington Avenue off Jamacha Road and spread to a second apartment before El Cajon firefighters put it out, according to a department spokeswoman.

No one was injured, the spokeswoman said, and damage is estimated at $50,000.
