Padres review

May 25, 2006

Who's hot

Atlanta's Jones Gang: Andruw Jones hammered a pair of home runs and Chipper Jones had his first four-hit game in more than a year. Andruw also walked twice, meaning the two Joneses reached base eight times in 10 tries. Each scored three runs.

Who's not

Chris Young: Giving up three home runs in the first three innings of two consecutive games obviously is not a secret for success. Young has allowed 13 homers this season, more than any other NL pitcher.

Braves defense: One night after losing a game on two unearned runs, Atlanta allows two more with another pair of errors.

Numbers

2-7 Padres' record in last nine games.

3 Two-out RBI singles by the Padres, two by Brian Giles and one by Mike Piazza. All three came on the first pitch.

6 Home runs at Petco Park by Andruw Jones, the most by a non-Padre.

8 Home runs allowed by Chris Young in 25 2/3 innings at Petco.

– JAY POSNER
