1935: Babe Ruth hit the 714th and final home run of his career, for the Boston Braves, in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

1925: “King Tut” arrived at the San Diego Zoo. The salmon-crested cockatoo served as the zoo's official greeter from 1951 to his retirement in 1951.
