High school football preview

November 2, 2006

Who: Carlsbad (6-0-1, 2-0-1 Avocado League) at Rancho Buena Vista (3-5, 1-2)

When: Tonight, 7

TV: Channel 4 San Diego

Web: KBCsports.com

Outlook: With road games remaining against RBV and winless Fallbrook, No. 2 Carlsbad is in prime position to claim at least a portion of the league title. Linebacker Brock Butler's big plays on defense helped the Lancers defeat Vista 17-7 last week. Tonight's foes have two common opponents. Carlsbad defeated El Camino 21-14 and tied Oceanside 10-10. RBV lost to the Wildcats 19-0 and lost to the Pirates 21-6.

Other games today: San Diego Jewish Academy at West Shores, 3; Christian Life at Sun Valley Charter, 7.
