3-vehicle crash puts 3 in hospital

November 3, 2006

BONSALL – A crash sent three people to the hospital and closed a section of state Route 76 near Interstate 15 for three hours last night.

The westbound driver of a two-door Saturn apparently suffered some kind of medical condition and swerved into the eastbound lane about a mile east of Gird Road at 6:40 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

The Saturn sideswiped a Honda Accord, then slammed head-on into a Ford Ranger pickup. The Saturn driver was airlifted to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido with serious injuries. The pickup driver and passenger were taken by ambulance to Fallbrook Hospital with minor injuries, and the Honda driver was unhurt, the CHP said.

Route 76, also called Pala Road, was closed between Gird Road and Star Track Way until 9:40 p.m.
