At a U.S. Coast Guard dock in Petersburg, Alaska, a man encountered a black bear cub yesterday. At least eight bear cubs have been seen without mothers this fall. Department of Fish and Game biologists fear that the cubs might not survive the winter and have sought help from zoos, but black bears are not in demand.
