Maintain and preserve: The San Diego Audubon Society is recruiting volunteers for a work party, 9 a.m.-noon tomorrow at the Audubon Nature Preserve, 2437 Hutchison St., Vista. The 11-acre site needs native plants restored, dead plant material raked, irrigation line trenches backfilled and brush cleared. Volunteers should wear comfortable working clothes and a hat. Help for parents: The San Diego County Department of Child Support Services offers child support assistance in North County. A new-case orientation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Vista Library, 700 Eucalyptus Ave., Vista. Tuesday film: The Escondido Public Library's First Tuesday film series will feature “Edges of the Lord,” 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 239 S. Kalmia St. This film depicts a Jewish boy in occupied Poland during the 1940s who is hidden from the Nazis with the aid of a local priest. The boy poses as a farmer's Catholic nephew. Honoring veterans: Escondido Art Association and Artists Gallery will present its annual exhibit “Honor Our Veterans.” The exhibit opens Wednesday and runs through Dec. 2 at the Artists Gallery, 121 W. Grand Ave., Escondido. There will be a dinner reception from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 11. (760) 489-0338.

Honoring end-of-life choices: Psychiatrist Stanley A.
