NATIONAL CITY – Police were searching for two gunmen who robbed a fast-food restaurant early yesterday and carjacked an employee's pickup.
The robbery was reported at 1:10 a.m. at a Church's Chicken on East Eighth Street, near Harbison Avenue, said Capt. Manuel Rodriguez of the National City Police Department.
The victims told police that the robbers walked into the business brandishing revolvers and demanded cash and the keys to a green GMC Sierra pickup parked outside. The clerks complied, and the robbers drove off in the pickup with an undisclosed amount of cash, Rodriguez said. No one was injured.
The robbers were black, of thin-to-medium build and wore black-and-white scarves over their faces, Rodriguez said. Both also wore hooded sweat shirts – one black, one gray.
The pickup was later recovered on a nearby street by police, Rodriguez said. No one was arrested.
