Now it's decision time for Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
One day after interviewing Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera for six hours, Jones spent an equal amount of time yesterday with Indianapolis Colts assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell.
Jones, who has interviewed 10 candidates to replace the retired Bill Parcells, could name the seventh coach in franchise history as soon as today.
“It will be in short order; it won't be long,” Caldwell said after emerging from a six-hour interview that began at 7:30 a.m.
San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Norv Turner remains the favorite. According to sources, Jones has been leaning his direction since the beginning of the search.
London game a hot ticket
The NFL's first regular-season game outside North America already looks like a big hit. More than 500,000 tickets were requested by about 160,000 fans in the three days following Friday's official announcement, the NFL said.
The ticket request process ends Feb. 18, two months before tickets go on sale for the Oct. 28 game between the Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants at Wembley Stadium, which is expected to hold 85,000-90,000 for American football.
Niners promise stadium plan
The San Francisco 49ers said they will have a comprehensive stadium plan for Santa Clara officials by early April. It will include a plan to jointly finance the structure, estimated at $600 million to $800 million.
