HILLCREST
–
A parolee accused of stabbing a couple walking in Hillcrest pleaded not guilty yesterday to felony assault charges.
Jared Jacobson, 30, is also accused of using a knife in the attack and causing great bodily injury, charges that could send him to prison for up to 10 years if convicted.
San Diego Superior Court Judge David Szumowski had Jacobson removed from the courtroom yesterday after several outbursts. The judge set bail at $500,000.
Authorities said that about noon Saturday, Jacobson attacked a man and a woman who had been shopping near Fourth Avenue and Washington Street. Their wounds were not believed to be life-threatening.
Prosecutors said yesterday that Jacobson had previously been convicted of assaulting a police officer.
