What's Inside

'AMERICAN IDOL' JUDGING PANEL
Will Sparks fly or will the 'Beat' go on?

After 39 episodes and 14 jillion votes, it all comes down to two perfectly decent choices and an “American Idol” that could go either way. So who is it going to be, America? Bubbly Jordin Sparks, or the beat-boxing Blake Lewis? The fact that neither choice will infuriate anybody makes Wednesday's finale the perfect end to one of the tamest “Idol” years ever. Sigh. Fortunately, we will always have Sanjaya's pony-hawk and the passionate opinions of the U-T's “Idol” judges and critics.

    Lee Grant's Outtakes

    Ravings, rants, quirks and quibbles

We're going to miss the mile-high gang from MTV's “The Real World: Denver” (the “reunion show” is at 10 p.m. Wednesday), particularly the tawdry trio of kvetchy Brooke, promiscuous Colie and tipsy Jenn.
