The citizenship quiz published May 10 under The List on Page A2 directed people to a Web site for answers, but they are in a book that is being sold through the site. A Union-Tribune research librarian confirmed the answers listed below:

1. How many stars are there in our flag? 50

2. How many states are there in the Union? 50

3. What color are the stars on our flag? White

4. What do the stars on the flag mean? They represent each state.

5. How many stripes are there in the flag? 13

6. What date is the Day of Independence? July 4, 1776

7. Independence from whom? Great Britain

8. What country did we fight during the Revolutionary War? Great Britain

9. Who was the first president of the United States? George Washington

10. What do we call a change of the Constitution? An amendment
