  • Oh no you don't! What not to do if you're taking the kids
Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse stand outside Sleeping Beauty's castle. Disney, who said the park would never be finished “as long as there is imagination left in the world,” died on Dec. 15, 1966, four months before the “Pirates of the Caribbean” attraction opened.

  • They've slipped Mickeys into the oddest places
While standing in line at Disneyland, look around. You might see a hidden Mickey in the oddest places. By definition, these are subtly placed profiles of Mickey Mouse – either as permanent parts of construction, such as supports of benches in the entrance plaza, or temporary arrangements, like a place setting of one large and two small plates acting as Mickey's “ears” on the ghosts' banquet table in the “Haunted Mansion” ride.

  • Behind the 'Cast Members Only' door
The Disneyland guidebook at the front gate will help you find the rides, but the resources below will give your trip an added Disney dimension.

  • GENE WEINGARTEN
    Shotgun approach to killing 'Googlenopes'
It's pretty hard to find a phrase or expression that is not out there somewhere on the Web. I know. I've tried. No matter how unlikely it may seem that anyone has ever put certain words together, someone, somewhere, probably has. When I Googled the exact phrase “Santa Claus nude,” I got 278 hits.

  • USO gala raised a bundle with special pledge

Marine Corps Maj. Paul Konopka, a member of the San Diego USO board of directors, led the Pledge of Allegiance at the USO Stars and Stripes Ball the other night.

  • TELL ME ABOUT IT    CAROLYN HAX
Wife trying to get past her hurt, anger
QUESTION: What do you do when you can't seem to forgive someone?

  • DEAR ABBY
    Sacrifices should be remembered, revered
DEAR ABBY: When I asked a group of schoolchildren what Memorial Day meant to them, they replied, “That's the day the pools open!” Too many older Americans would have similar responses. There can be no argument that we, as a nation, need to refresh our memories and put “memorial” back into Memorial Day.

  • FOR THEIR BENEFIT
    For their benefit
