The San Diego Union-Tribune

Tell Us About It

July 21, 2007

Last week, we asked who you thought was most likely to be killed off in the last Harry Potter book, which is due out today. The biggest number went for the bad guy. Take a look.

55% Lord Voldemort

17% Severus Snape

11% Harry Potter

11% Ron Weasley

6% Hermione Granger

TOTAL RESPONSES: 155

NEW QUESTION: Should the San Diego Catholic diocese follow Los Angeles' lead in its clergy abuse settlements? The Los Angeles archdiocese has agreed to pay a record $660 million to more than 500 victims to settle its lawsuits. The San Diego diocese has offered $95 million to some 150 victims, which is roughly half, on average per victim, as the L.A. settlement. What do you think? Please call (619) 293-2506 or (800) 244-6397, ext. 2506, by midnight Sunday and press the number that best fits your response.

1. Yes, the San Diego diocese should pay the same as Los Angeles. That would be the fair and equitable thing to do.

2. No, the San Diego diocese should not pay that much money per victim. For one thing, San Diego is smaller and can't afford it.

3. A third option: The San Diego diocese should drop its bankruptcy petition and let juries decide the merits of each lawsuit.
