Bigger doesn't always mean better. At least that's what Scott Tilton, president and chief executive of Loop'd Network, thinks when it comes to social networking sites. Loop'd, a Sorrento Valley startup with 24 employees, is aiming to be the MySpace of the action-sports world.

      Airline to test anti-missile system in air

      ASSOCIATED PRESS

      DALLAS – Up to three American Airlines jets carrying passengers will be outfitted with anti-missile technology this spring in the latest phase of testing technology to protect commercial planes from attack. An American Airlines spokesman said yesterday that the test will determine how well the anti-missile system holds up under the rigors of flight.

        Growing Illumina splits into 2 divisions

        Steady growth and the departure of top executives have driven Illumina, a San Diego-based company that does genetic analysis, to reorganize into two operating units.

          A few fans get chance to shine

          For Sunday's Chargers-Titans playoff game, Vista-based FoxFury is unveiling its flashing LED Fan Light. Plans are for 30 to 50 Bolt Pride members to wear the bracelets behind the west end zone at Qualcomm Stadium.
