South Bay council agendas

January 5, 2008

The Chula Vista City Council: The City Council on Tuesday will consider allocating more money for the Civic Center renovation project. The project budget was set at $50.1 million. The lead contractor, Highland Partnership, said its contract needs to be increased by $1.7 million because asbestos was found during the renovation.

Officials also will consider rezoning the Concordia Lutheran Church site, 267 E. Oxford St., to make way for a subdivision of 24 single-family homes.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the council chambers, 276 Fourth Ave.

The National City City Council: The City Council on Tuesday will vote on approving a 3 percent cost-of-living raise for several confidential employees effective Jan. 1 and a 4 percent increase in base salary effective next January.

In addition, the confidential employees, who are executive assistants, agreed to begin contributing 2 percent of their salaries to their retirement accounts, instead of having the city pay the entire cost. The first 1 percent is effective this month and the second half next January.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the City Council chambers, 1243 National City Blvd.

The Imperial Beach City Council: At a meeting Wednesday, the City Council will consider an amendment to the Palm Avenue-Commercial Redevelopment project plan. Council members also will review the five-year capital improvement program and various project budgets. Additionally, the city will receive a report on a San Diego Association of Governments sand-replenishment program. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 825 Imperial Beach Blvd.
