Automakers suit up for Super Bowl XLII

AUTOMOTIVE NEWS

January 5, 2008

DETROIT – Chevrolet, Toyota Division and Audi will advertise during the Feb. 3 Super Bowl telecast, the companies said.

Chevrolet plans a 60-second commercial during the game's second quarter, General Motors spokeswoman Ryndee Carney said. That spot will be GM's only ad during the game, she said, although multiple spots will be aired by Chevrolet during the pregame show and by Cadillac during the postgame show.

Toyota plans to run two game spots, although their length and timing have not been determined, spokeswoman Cindy Knight said. The commercials may feature the redesigned Toyota Sequoia SUV and Tundra pickup, she said.

Audi is returning to the Super Bowl after two decades. Spokesman Andrew Lipman said Audi's 60-second spot, to run during the first quarter, will feature the R8 sports car.
