NEIL BARBER

Neil Barber, 85, of Spring Valley died Jan 29. He was born in Albion, Ill., and was a builder with American Housing Guild. He was retired from the Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; daughter, Linda Fogal; sister, Vera Alcorn; brothers, Charles and Bob; and one grandchild.

Services: none announced.

Scattering of ashes: at sea.

Arrangements: American Cremation Service.

CARL JAY BATTIN JR.

Sept. 14, 1942-Jan. 17, 2008

Carl Jay Battin Jr., 65, of Jamul died Jan. 17. He was born in Carl Junction, Mo., and was retired from the Navy. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his daughter, Shona Sharp; sons, Carl Jay Battin III and Marty Battin; sisters, Ester Cherry, Marjorie Felkins, Carla Henricks, Nancy Duncan, Patricia Wooldridge and Marian Wells; and five grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Cabrillo Memorial Drive, Point Loma.

Arrangements: American Cremation Service.

WILLIAM W. BLANKINSHIP

Dec. 5, 1926-Jan. 23, 2008

William W. Blankinship, 81, of Vista died Jan. 23. He was born in California and was a nurseryman. He served in the Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Madelain Blankinship; sons, Jon Martin of Vista and Rod Martin of Tampa, Fla.; and stepdaughter, Alison Martin of Apex, N.C.

MARILYN BOWIE

May 9, 1925-Jan. 18, 2008

Marilyn “Jackie” Bowie, 82, of San Diego died Jan. 18. She was born in San Diego and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce Bowie; daughters, Vicke Bowie of San Diego, Beverly Price of San Marcos and Marilyn Gibson of Pauma Valley; sister, Barbara Henderson of La Mesa; and three grandchildren.

Inurnment: Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Cabrillo Memorial Drive, Point Loma.

DONAL GEORGE BROWN

Aug. 15, 1920-Jan. 30, 2008

Donal George Brown, 87, of San Diego died Jan. 30. He was born in Racine, Wis., and was a retired chief pharmacist's mate in the Navy. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Brown; daughter, Sharon Brown of Maybank, Texas; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

ROBERT HARVEY CARR

Robert Harvey Carr, 59, of San Marcos died Jan. 31. He was born in Virginia and was a landscaper.

THERESA DANIELSON

Theresa Danielson, 83, of Coronado died Feb. 1. She was born in Anaheim and was a licensed vocational nurse. She was a member of the Harborside Women's Club and Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Danielson of Coronado, Tim Danielson of Lakeside and Andy Danielson of Spring Valley; sisters, Francis Francis of Sun City and Kate Adams of Apple Valley; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
