SAN DIEGO: Police were questioning two men yesterday who are suspected of taking a man's car at gunpoint in Serra Mesa on Friday night after a previous carjacking attempt failed.
The suspects first approached a 22-year-old man at Gramercy and Sandrock roads about 9:40 p.m., pistol-whipped him and tried to steal his Mitsubishi sedan, San Diego police said.
The victim resisted, and the men then ran to Berger Avenue, where they threatened a 55-year-old man with a handgun and demanded his keys.
The suspects drove away in his blue 1998 Mitsubishi.
About 4:15 p.m. yesterday, police spotted the Mitsubishi and pulled it over on Finch Lane in Birdrock. Four people in the car ran, and two were captured.

Car, van run into houses; 1 driver, 1 resident hurt
SAN DIEGO: A car and a van ran into houses in separate incidents yesterday, injuring two people, police said.
In the first incident, a man suspected of drunken driving ran his car into a house on Arverne Street near Auburndale Street in Clairemont Mesa about 3 a.m., suffering minor injuries, San Diego police Sgt. Garry Collins said.
A San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said the driver was taken to a hospital. The home's residents were displaced but not injured.
In the other incident, a van crashed into a house on Biloxi Street off 54th Street in Oak Park about 1 p.m.
“It looks like the van just plowed into the house,” Collins said.
Collins said the driver jumped into a red Dodge Ram truck driven by someone else, and the truck sped off.
A woman in the house was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to a hospital, the dispatcher said.
The van driver was described as Latino, in his late 30s to early 40s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a heavy build, long curly hair and a mustache. He was wearing a dark sweat shirt and blue jeans.
