BAKERSFIELD – Law enforcement officials say a 25-year-old woman is in critical condition after her boyfriend ran over her head as he drove away after a fight.
Kern County sheriff's Lt. Dennis Smithson said Rosalinda Camacho and Christopher Cribb were driving home from Los Angeles early yesterday when they started arguing. The argument escalated, and Cribb pulled over on state Route 99 in Kern County.
Smithson said Cribb pulled Camacho out of the car and threw her to the ground. As Cribb began to drive away, Camacho ran alongside and pounded on the window. She fell, and the vehicle's rear tire ran over her head.
Cribb pulled over and called 911.
Smithson said detectives are investigating.

Air-quality board proposes pollution fee
SAN FRANCISCO – Air regulators in the San Francisco Bay Area are proposing an innovative way to curb pollution: charging businesses a fee according to the amount of greenhouse gases they emit.
It is the first such proposal in California and perhaps the country. Under the plan, businesses from oil refineries to bakeries would pay 4.2 cents per metric ton of carbon dioxide released.
This would mean that the biggest greenhouse gas emitter in the Bay Area, the Shell oil refinery in Martinez, would have to pay $186,475 a year in fees for the 4.4 million metric tons of gases it produces annually.
The fees were proposed last week by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
A final vote on the proposal is expected in May.
