For Their Benefit is a weekly listing of activities sponsored by nonprofit organizations to raise funds for programs that serve San Diegans.

MARCH 1

“Heart & Soul Gala 2008,” benefiting the programs of Jewish Family Service. 6:30 p.m. March 1 at the Hyatt Regency, 3777 La Jolla Village Drive. $300-$500, sponsorships available. jfssd.org or (858) 637-3018.

The fourth annual Spring Craft Show, benefiting the Bonita Optimist Club, dedicated to helping children of the South Bay. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 1 at Rohr Park Manor, 4548 Sweetwater Road, Bonita. Youth clubs will be selling hot dogs and Kettle Korn. Information: (619) 884-8197.

MARCH 8

“The Gold and Silver Ball,” benefiting Soroptimist International of Rancho Bernardo and the Transitional Housing Program for battered women and their children. 6:30 p.m. March 8 at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo, 12280 Greens East Road, San Diego. $75, black-tie optional. MARCH 9

“Luann – Scenes in a Teen's Life,” a musical performance, benefiting scholarships, instructional equipment, programs and services for Palomar College students. 2 p.m. March 9 at Howard Brubeck Theatre, Palomar College, 1140 W. Mission Road, San Marcos. The performance will be preceded by a gourmet barbecue lunch at noon, followed by a dessert reception at 4 p.m. and will be held in the Student Union, along with a silent auction. $50-$200, sponsorships available.
