ESCONDIDO: A man walking in the dark in the city's flood-control channel last night was shot twice but is expected to survive.
Escondido police Sgt. Aaron Heath said the 21-year-old was near Harding Street about 7 p.m. when he heard several gunshots, then was shot in the arm. Another bullet grazed his ear.
The man got to a street and flagged down a passing car, whose driver took him to a hospital.
Heath said the man never saw his attacker.

Man, 24, is shot in foot after leaving liquor store
SAN DIEGO: A 24-year-old man was shot in the foot yesterday after leaving a liquor store on Federal Boulevard near 47th Street, police said.
The man told San Diego police that he left the store about 1 a.m. and was walking past a crowd of motorcycle riders when he heard a gunshot. The man realized he had been hit in the foot. His brother took him to a hospital.
Police said there was no confrontation before the shooting.

21-year-old man arrested in stabbing in El Cajon
EL CAJON: Police have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of stabbing another man last week.
Joshua Stephen Smith was taken into custody Friday in connection with a stabbing about 8:20 p.m. Monday on Wayne Avenue in El Cajon, police Lt. Mark Coit said.
Smith left his cell phone behind Monday night, and detectives traced it back to him, Coit said. The stabbing victim, whose name has not been released, also identified Smith.
Police issued a bulletin on the case, and an officer who recognized Smith from a previous investigation went to his house. Smith wasn't there, but the officer left a message for Smith to contact him at the Police Department. Smith was later arrested.

Monrovia man, 43, dies in offroad accident
NORTH COUNTY: A man killed in an offroad accident Friday has been identified as Kenneth Meyer, 43, of Monrovia.
Meyer was driving an all-terrain vehicle alone at Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area and apparently lost control and flipped the vehicle, said Michael Elano, a Medical Examiner's Office investigator. Meyer's body was found by a friend. A cause of death has not been determined.
