February 17, 2008

Bodies found: Police found five decomposed bodies just east of Ramadi and arrested a militant suspected of being involved in their deaths. A body with gunshot wounds was found just east of Hillah.

Bomb wounds child: A child was wounded when he picked up a roadside bomb Friday in Mahaweel.

Roadside bombs: A roadside bomb killed two police officers near the Abu Saida intersection in Diyala province. A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army convoy near Imam Wais in Diyala, killing one soldier and wounding another.

Samarra killing: Gunmen killed a member of a U.S.-backed neighborhood patrol in Samarra.

Booby-trapped house: A booby-trapped house in Salam, in Diyala province, exploded as the owner and his son entered it. Both men were killed.

Business convention: Iraqi businessmen mingled yesterday with a few of their U.S. counterparts at the first business exposition to be held in Baghdad since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. About 260 vendors, almost all Iraqi, set up booths on the ground floor of the Green Zone's al-Rashid Hotel, which still bears the scars of a 2003 rocket attack.

Hundreds of visitors crammed the hallways, picking up brochures and free candies from the booths of businesses.
