February 17, 2008

1926: A curfew is enacted at the U.S.-Mexico border from 6 to 8 a.m. It remains in effect until 1933.

1994: The District Attorney's Office charges a convicted child molester, Albert Raymond Carder, with the 1989 rape of Alicia Wade, more than three years after her father was arrested and falsely charged with the crime. Carder later pleads guilty.

AS A MATTER OF FACT

Two in 100 Carlsbad residents age 25 or older had less than a 9th grade education in 2005.
