A caption on Page C1 yesterday with a story about lenders dropping out of a federally guaranteed loan program may have given the impression that SDSU students were among those who could be directly affected by that development. SDSU doesn't participate in that program, the Federal Family Education Loan Program, but instead uses another one, the Federal Direct Student Loan Program, through which the university borrows money to make direct loans to students.
