A Eureka item last week cited 1970 as the year Edwin Land patented the Polaroid camera. Land patented his first Polaroid Land Camera in 1946 and began selling it in 1948. The popular SX-70 camera – a technical breakthrough – was patented in 1970 and debuted publicly in 1972.
