THE SKINNY
Baker, 26, was the Twins' second-round pick in the 2003 draft. He threw the 15th one-hitter in Twins history last Aug. 31 against Kansas City.
The durable, versatile Banks has become one of the pleasant surprises of the Padres' season. This will be his fifth start and seventh appearance. Opponents are hitting .239 against Banks, who has eight pitches.
Banks' 1.62 ERA since his May 24 debut with the Padres is the lowest in the National League for that time span and the second-lowest in the majors. Banks has allowed one earned run in 14 innings over his first three outings at Petco Park.
