     Jake Peavy had retired Adrian Beltre in his first two at-bats by pounding him inside. “I got a broken-bat grounder the first time, then moved his feet,” Peavy said. The third baseman went to his knees on a swing Peavy described as “a little unorthodox.” But the high drive carried onto the first balcony of the Western Metal Supply Company building for a two-run homer.
