THE SKINNY

After suffering through a 14-start winless streak – the longest of his Hall of Fame career – Maddux picked up win No. 351 this week with an 8-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. There was speculation Maddux would be sporting Dodger Blue by now, but a trade never materialized before the deadline.

He still could be moved on waivers since the team is eager to save a portion of his $10 million salary. In three starts against the Giants this year, Maddux is 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA. For his career, he's 29-14 with a 2.81 ERA.

In three career starts against the Padres, Correia, a Grossmont High alum, is 1-0 with a 5.23 ERA. Since coming off the disabled list in June after missing more than a month with an intercostal muscle strain, he's gone 1-2 with a 6.69 ERA. He also faced San Diego in a number of relief appearances last season, surrendering one run in three of four outings.
