PUBLIC EYE'S WEEK IN REVIEW
What will you find in Gene Simmons' fridge?

September 21, 2008

Betcha never guessed Popsicles.

“Sugar-free ice pops are an invention of God,” Gene Simmons said in the Celeb Fridge feature of the October issue of Everyday with Rachael Ray magazine. “They hardly have any calories since they're mostly water. I eat about 15 pops every two days. Instead of smoking or drinking, you should just eat an ice pop.”

Frozen dinners also take up a lot of space in his freezer.

“Shannon (Tweed) and I don't diet because the tendency is to cheat. I keep Lean Cuisines in the house because I don't cook very often. Instead, I just pop a meal in the microwave whenever I get hungry.”

SPEED DATING

After being married to rocker Chris Robinson, actress Kate Hudson has had a couple of high-profile dalliances with Owen Wilson and Lance Armstrong.

Currently, however, the actress has been dipping her big toe into the dating pool and has even gone on a blind date or two. This has proven dicey, as she shared at a news conference for her new film, “My Best Friend's Girl.”

“One date, I just left before we even ordered food because the guy was just so deeply boring that it was like, 'I'm going to just save us from all of this and just leave,' “ said Hudson, 29. In case you were wondering, he “was in banking. I'm not kidding.”

SNARKY MUCH?

Pat O'Brien is famous for being the former host of the syndicated tabloid TV show “The Insider.” He's even more famous for why he was demoted to the shadowy ranks of “correspondent.” (Voice mails were released in 2005 in which an apparently tipsy O'Brien was heard begging women for a little loving.) Now O'Brien has extended his fame to e-mail.

According to the New York Post's Page Six, O'Brien, on a trip to Idaho, sent e-mail to staff members at “Insider” and “Entertainment Tonight” dissing “Insider” host Lara Spencer and the show's head fashion stylist, Anya Sarre.

O'Brien evidently does not care for an “Insider” feature called “Look for Less,” in which Anya and Lara do the accessories shelf.

“Watching Anya and Lara pick out accessories makes the viewers want to vomit,” O'Brien allegedly wrote – evidently forgetting why Spencer, who was once his co-host on the show, is now its only host.

Note to Pat: Think before hitting the “send” key.

EMMY TALK

“I want to take down Antiques Roadshow once and for all. I'm tired of those guys just running the world.”

– Kathy Griffin, joking about her fellow nominees at the Creative Arts Emmys, to People magazine. The “My Life on the D-List” star ended up taking home the trophy for best reality program.
