MONDAY
Road test No. 1
The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration holds a public hearing at Del Mar Fairgrounds on the extension of state Route 241 to Interstate 5 in San Diego's North County.
Angle: The fairgrounds has already hosted one hearing made raucous by environmental activists opposed to the project. To prevent a raucous repeat, NOAA has strict rules on who will speak, including a limit of one speaker per organization.
Road test No. 2
The first of three planned stretches of express lanes on Interstate 15, this one from state Route 56 to Rancho Bernardo Road.
Angle: Car pools and buses pay nothing. Solo drivers pay an “introductory” toll of 50 cents.
TUESDAY
Remodeling Westside
Community design exercises, using three-dimensional models, start at 6 p.m. at Kimball Elementary School in National City.
Angle: Maybe city residents will come up with a plan for the Westside neighborhood less controversial than the city's own.
WEDNESDAY
Who's in charge?
The YWCA, now run by former City Attorney Casey Gwinn, will make its case to a San Diego City Council committee for taking over the Family Justice Center, Gwinn's longtime project and now a city department.
Angle: Just how much of the center's current cost will – or could – the city save?
